The Multiplier Programme 2026

The Teachers CAN Multiplier Programme is a one-year leadership journey that equips and connects teachers who want to go beyond their classrooms to lead change in schools and communities.

It forms part of the Teachers CAN mission to grow a bold network of teacher change agents and allies committed to ensuring that every child in South Africa receives a quality education.

Through the programme, change agent teachers are capacitated as community builders and affirmed as changemakers — equipped to bring together groups of teachers and allies in their local area while deepening their own leadership and sense of purpose.

Each Lead Multiplier starts and sustains a Local Connect Zone, which functions as a professional learning community (PLC) — a space for shared learning, reflection and collaboration grounded in the Teachers CAN Manifesto.

In these spaces, teachers strengthen one another, solve challenges collectively, and grow their confidence as change agents. As a Lead Multiplier you not only support others but also become part of a wider community of care and encouragement that sustains their own motivation and wellbeing as a change agent teachers.

The programme is guided by:

• The Teachers CAN Vision: Positioning change agent teachers as key influencers in the education ecosystem.
• The Teachers CAN Manifesto: Five core values that empower teachers to tap into their individual and collective agency.
• A National Network and Community: Recognising that teaching can be isolated practice, we provide multiple pathways for connection, collaboration and growth.
