What is the Multiplier Programme?
The Teachers CAN Multiplier Programme is a vital component of our mission to build a dynamic network of change agent teachers and allies committed to ensuring every child in South Africa receives a quality education. It creates dedicated spaces where educators not only develop their leadership identity but also join a supportive community of like-minded individuals who are ready to drive systemic change.
Empowering Change Agents:
At its core, the Multiplier Programme is designed for teachers who want to lead transformative change. It equips you with the tools, training, and ongoing support to tap into your leadership potential and to build, nurture, and sustain local communities of change. Through immersive learning experiences and practical workshops, you will gain skills in facilitation, conflict resolution, and innovative problem-solving—all grounded in the principles of the Teachers CAN Manifesto.
A Transformative Journey:
The programme is not merely a one-year training initiative; it is a comprehensive leadership journey. You will engage in a deep, five-day in-person immersion that uses interactive sessions, group activities, and role-playing to build critical leadership and community-building skills. Alongside this, monthly online check-ins and peer-learning sessions ensure that your development continues throughout the year. This blended approach not only reinforces your new skills but also provides practical ways to implement them in your classroom, school, and community.
Gateway to the Network:
From day one, every participant becomes a foundational part of the Teachers CAN Network. This programme is our primary mechanism for network expansion. As you progress—from a lead multiplier to an active member of our alumni community—you will be embedded in a vibrant ecosystem that encourages continuous engagement, knowledge sharing, and collective action. Whether you are a lead multiplier, a multiplier, or eventually an alumnus, your participation contributes to a robust, interconnected community dedicated to driving systemic change in education.
Guiding Principles:
- The Teachers CAN Vision: We see change agent teachers as key influencers who have the power to transform the education ecosystem.
- The Teachers CAN Manifesto: Our five core values empower you to harness both individual and collective agency, providing a roadmap for overcoming challenges and inspiring innovation in your educational environment.
- A National Network and Community: Recognising that teaching can often feel isolating, we provide multiple pathways for connection, collaboration, and growth, ensuring that every participant finds support and a sense of belonging.
What It Does:
Drives Systemic Change: By embedding every participant into the Teachers CAN Network, the programme acts as a catalyst for broader educational reform—ensuring that innovative practices and the Teachers CAN Manifesto are actively implemented at school and community levels.
Builds Leadership: It develops your capacity to lead, facilitate, and effect change in your local context.
Fosters Community: It creates a space where you can collaborate with and support other change agent teachers, building a network that extends far beyond the training period.
