Tshegofatso Seitlhamo

My name is Tshegofatso affectionately known as Teacher Tshego to my learners and parents. I started teaching in 2002 in a local preschool in Rusternburg Geelhout Park without any qualifications but a matric. I developed the love for teaching enormously under the leadership and mentorship of Mrs Mfuloane (Founder of Tlisang-Bana ECD) who was very passionate and knowledgeable in ECD. She registered me for ECD level 4 learnership which was really an eye-opener and I loved every moment of those classes. The more I learnt about child development the more I wanted to pursue and unlock every aspect of child development until I registered for Unisa BEd in ECD.

I became a teacher because of the love I have for children and their well-being. I honestly advocate for fair and reasonable welfare of child development. I want to see children growing up to be well-mannered, responsible and independent human beings, that really completes me and sparks my joyful moments. I also advocate for skills development and quality education for all while fostering innovation. I believe forming a community of practice with other teachers is critical for collaboration, professional development, innovation and most importantly for sharing best practices to engage with learners for their optimal development, and also building supportive structures for teachers.

My goals in education is to see all if not most of the African children enjoying and accessing the best quality education that addresses their holistic development and needs. My vision for education is improved access to teaching and learning adequate resources, digital transformation and more focus on stem education. My superpower is resilience, adaptation, manifestation, empower and elevate!
