I became a teacher to mould young individuals into their better versions. I believe an educational institution is one place where I get to spend most of my time with young individuals and can influence them at an early stage. More than anything, I became a teacher so that I can be there for children who lack guidance back at home and for those who need inspiration in life. I want to take them out of their comfort zone and the corners where they hide themselves and put them into the spotlight, revealing the potential that most did not know they had. I want to share my strategies with other teachers and build a community with forward-minded people who, after engaging with them, will make me want to do better and more in the school and community I work in.
Certain teachers get into the profession and lose interest; by forming a teacher community, I want us to share new initiatives that might be interesting enough to keep teachers in the profession and also encourage those who are still studying to become teachers.
My goals include becoming a Social Sciences Curriculum Implementer and introducing new strategies to change the concept of Social Sciences being regarded as a killer subject to being the most passed and enjoyed subject.
My Vision for education in South Africa is seeing schools offering not only content and theory to learners but practical activities that they need in their everyday lives. Ensuring that by Matric, learners have the best research skills and can actually nail interviews when they have to work after matric.
My Superpower is being a Pattern-Spotter; I see connections others miss and turn chaos into a plan.
