I am an English Home Language teacher driven by a deep belief in the transformative power of words. Teaching English HL is more than delivering curriculum content for me. It is more about shaping thinkers and confident communicators who can influence the world.
Growing up in the small township of Embalenhle, I witnessed how education can widen or close opportunity gaps. I attended a school with limited resources, yet we had exceptional teachers who saw our potential beyond our circumstances. Their belief in our abilities shaped my academic journey and inspired me to pursue education as a career.
My reality continues to shape my commitment to creating classrooms where every learner feels seen, heard, and intellectually challenged. I regard language as an empowering tool that we can use to communicate, shape, and connect as humans, albeit through different cultures, identities, and/or lived experiences.
My teaching philosophy centres on inclusion and differentiated teaching approaches built around support and guidance. I believe that learners stand a better chance of being agents of change through not only academic skills, but confidence and voice, hence my love for public speaking.
Beyond the classroom, I am passionate about teacher collaboration and professional growth. I believe teachers are nation-builders, and when teachers work together, innovation and impact multiply. I am particularly interested in curriculum relevance and literacy development.
My vision for an education system is deeply rooted in my personal experience, where every learner, regardless of background, has access to quality teaching that inspires possibility. Through English HL, I aim to cultivate thinkers who can write their own futures with clarity, courage, and purpose.
