My name is Tshepang Letlape, a passionate natural sciences teacher at Platinum Village Primary School. My journey in education has been driven by a deep commitment to nurturing young minds and inspiring a love for science. Over the years, I have had the privilege of shaping learners’ understanding of the natural world, encouraging curiosity, critical thinking, and lifelong learning.
In recognition of my dedication to excellence, I was honoured as a candidate for the National Teacher’s Awards for Excellence in Teaching Natural Sciences. This acknowledgement highlighted my innovative teaching methods, dedication to learners’ growth, and contributions to the advancement of science education.
The core values that guide my teaching are integrity, empathy, accountability, collaboration, and a growth mindset. These values form the foundation of my daily practice and influence how I engage with both learners and colleagues. I believe that education should be learner-centered, inclusive, and empowering. Every child deserves to be seen, heard, and encouraged to reach their full potential.
As part of my professional philosophy, I believe that teachers should have a clear manifesto—a personal mission that drives their actions and decisions. My manifesto is to ignite curiosity, cultivate resilience, and foster excellence in every learner I encounter. I strive to be a role model, a mentor, and a catalyst for change within the education system.
Beyond the classroom, I serve on the leadership committee at Platinum Village Primary School, where I actively contribute to school-wide decision-making and strategic planning. I support fellow educators through mentoring, peer coaching, and sharing innovative resources that enhance teaching and learning. I also facilitate workshops and reflective sessions to help teachers grow professionally and stay inspired.
My journey in education is one of continuous learning, transformation, and service. I remain dedicated to inspiring future generations, strengthening the teaching community, and making a lasting impact in the field of education.
