Silindile Jiyana

Silindile Jiyana is a passionate educator, Departmental Head of the Foundation Phase at Mpolimpolini Primary School in the Magwangwa area, and a 2026 Lead Multiplier with Teachers CAN. Based in Ndumo and originally from Mtubatuba in Northern KwaZulu-Natal, she is deeply committed to shaping young minds and supporting fellow educators within her community.

Silindile began her academic journey at the Durban University of Technology, where she obtained a Diploma and BTech in Journalism. Her background in journalism strengthened her communication skills and deepened her appreciation for storytelling, before leading her toward a career in education. She later completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and an Honours degree in Education through the University of South Africa.

With a strong belief that teaching is a vocation rather than simply a profession, Silindile is dedicated to creating meaningful learning experiences for children and fostering confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning from the foundational years. As a school leader, she champions collaboration, professional growth, and innovation among educators, with a focus on strengthening teaching practice across the UMkhanyakude District. Through her work, she seeks to create environments where teachers feel supported, learners are valued, and education becomes a catalyst for positive change.
