Nomfundo Myeni is the Departmental Head and a special education teacher at Siphosethu Special School. A dedicated and award-winning educator, she holds a BA Honours in Argumentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and Honours in Teacher Education and Professional Development. With 12 years of experience, Mrs Myeni has fostered an accessible and supportive environment for learners with special needs, specialising in inclusive education and working closely with parents to ensure quality learning for all students.
Beyond her classroom duties, Nomfundo has enriched the school community by establishing the school choir, which regularly competes at the Provincial and National SASCE championships. She has championed the inclusion of Coding and Robotics in the curriculum and led technology integration initiatives. In 2023, she was recognised with the Provincial “Excellence in Special Needs Teaching” award at the National Teaching Awards.
Mrs Myeni is committed to ongoing professional development, participating in workshops on inclusive education, mentoring new educators, and coaching NTA candidates. She also serves as a school ambassador on Pongola radio, leading live discussions on school operations. Her qualifications include certificates in Coding and Robotics, Digital Literacy, AI integration in the classroom, Internet and Computing Core, and teaching learners with Autism Spectrum Disorder. As she continues her career, Mrs Myeni remains dedicated to delivering inspiring, inclusive education—especially for learners with severe intellectual disabilities.
