My role as a teacher is to shape the young minds into becoming better versions of themselves in the future. I believe that I can do this by teaching learners how to recognise their unique selves through abilities and talents they possess. My aim is not only to teach the content for learner understanding but to teach them essential life skills and self-understanding.
I would like to form a community of teachers to create a safe space and platform for others to express challenges they face. Together as a community and family of teacher agents we can tackle challenges these teachers have in their schools or classrooms. I believe in learning from others. Thus each teacher’s input in sharing wisdom and best practices in each discussions we have is of valuable treasure to me.
My dream is to establish a learning centre to offer tutoring services for my community where I can mentor student teachers and allow them to gain experience working with children. Having this experience was life changing for me, and fuelled my passion for teaching. I would like to create the same experience for others. My ideal education system for South Africa, is to have a system that supports talents and unique skills in each child to thrive and develop understanding of selves through experiences in the classrooms.
My superpower is being a mathe-magician. My learners call me that because I can think quickly on my feet and give immediate/accurate answers to their questions.
