Kelebogile Motlogelwa

School: Thutong Primary School
Based: Mafikeng, North West

My name is Kelebogile Motlogelwa. I am a foundation phase teacher holding a BEd in Foundation Phase and I also have an Honors Degree in Educational Management and Leadership. I have been teaching for five years now and I love it.
I currently teach at Thutong Primary School in Setlopo village of Mafikeng. I represent the teachers in my school as a site Stewart. I am a sports organiser at school and a committee member of a number of activities at school including but not limited to; Girl Guide SA, Netball, Soul Buddyz, Fundraising and entertainment etc.

I am one of the Master Trainers that are tasked to train fellow teachers on Unplugged coding and robotics.

I became a teacher as I wanted to be the teacher that all the teachers that I met were to me, to every child. My childhood was not easy as at home we lacked and I lost my mother when I was 10 years old. My primary school teachers filled that gap at school and that is where my love for teaching came about. I promised myself that I am going be as good to the next child as all these teachers have been to me if not do more. Ever since I’ve met amazing teachers throughout my life. I know this sound scripted but trust me it’s true. Amazing people exist and they change our lives without even knowing it. A little kindness goes a long way.

I would like to own a franchise of crèches in South Africa. Most of the children from rural areas fall behind their peers because they start off later than those who went to preschool. I believe that every child should be given a fair chance to grow holistically without feeling less than their peers. Crèches are expensive and those that cannot afford them suffer but if there were free crèches that kids can go to then lives can be spared.

My confidence is my strength. The ability to ask questions so that you get a better understanding of what matters is better than being scared to ask because of what others might think. Being able to stand in front of the masses is what got me to be a Master Trainer. I don’t need to know everything, I just have to believe in myself.
