Abongile Guldenge

School: Zingisa Comprehensive High School
Based: Mthatha, Eastern Cape

Abongile Guldenge is a highly skilled professional educator, currently employed by the Eastern Cape Department of Education at Zingisa Comprehensive High School. Mr Guldenge aspires to impart on the learners the ability to embrace the importance of language as a tool to confidently express oneself and share ideas. He also believes that the Arts can be used create and sustain livelihood.

Currently pursuing his Masters Degree in Education, focusing on the implementation of Inclusive Education in Mainstream Schools at Walter Sisulu University. Abongile holds a Bachelor of Education Honours degree in Inclusive Education from the University of South Africa. He currently teaches isiXhosa and Music at Zingisa Comprehensive High School in Mthatha. In addition to his teaching role, Mr Guldenge is also the Coordinator of the School Timetabling Committee and a member of the School-Based Support Team, which offers educational, psychological and social support to learners in the school.

Beyond his teaching and professional roles at the school, Abongile also serves in several other capacities. He is a full member of the South African BRICS Youth Association and an alumnus of the YALI TNF ECM Cohort 2 of 2022. Mr Guldenge serves as the Deputy Secretary-General and a member of the Board of Directors for FAMSA-Stutterheim. These involvements have helped him grow in understanding the complexities which most learners mitigate trying to get an education. His dream is the realization of quality and inclusive education in South Africa, where learners’ capabilities are developed holistically.

His superpower is the ability to positively influence others to do better and be better versions of themselves.
