Over the years, Teachers CAN has implemented different programs including the Teachers CAN Fellowship, and the Multiplier Programme, -all designed to build teacher leadership, advocacy, and collaboration within South Africa’s education system. These programmes have cultivated a growing network of passionate change agent teachers who continue to drive change in their schools and communities.
In 2023, Teachers CAN established its first Alumni Committee, representing four fellowship cohorts. This committee provided critical leadership, insight, and strategic support that strengthened alumni engagement and set a precedent for teacher-led network development.
In 2024–2025, recognising the growth and diversity of the alumni network, Teachers CAN transitioned to the Alumni Champions Model. This model is designed to broaden representation, deepen engagement, and localise leadership across provinces and programme streams. Alumni Champions now serve as the core of this new phase of network growth, leading the alumni reconnection and mobilisation process.
