I became a teacher because I believe education has the power to change lives and uplift communities. Growing up in a rural area, I saw how a dedicated teacher can inspire learners to dream beyond their circumstances. Teaching gives me an opportunity to guide young minds, build confidence, and develop skills that will help learners succeed in life. As a teacher and Departmental Head for Mathematics, Science and Technology (MST), I am committed to improving learning outcomes and creating meaningful learning experiences for all learners.
I am passionate about forming a community for teachers because teaching can sometimes feel isolating, especially in rural schools where resources are limited. When teachers work together, share ideas, and support one another, they become stronger and more effective. A professional community helps teachers grow, solve challenges collectively, and improve the quality of education offered to learners. I believe collaboration among teachers leads to better teaching practices and improved learner performance.
My goals in education include strengthening Mathematics, Science & technology teaching, promoting the use of technology (ICT) in the classroom, and supporting teachers through mentorship and professional development. I am particularly interested in innovative teaching methods that make learning practical, engaging, and relevant to learners’ everyday lives.
My vision for education in South Africa is a system where every learner, regardless of background or location, has access to quality education and equal opportunities. I dream of schools that are well-resourced, safe, and supportive, where both teachers and learners feel motivated and valued.
My superpower is perseverance. I remain committed even in difficult situations, and I continue working towards improvement despite challenges. This determination helps me support learners and teachers and stay focused on making a positive difference in education.
